Back to the blog.. and CORFU!

And back to the travels.. this time CORFU. The water is really this color blue. Really. We flew directly onto the island rather than going through Athens. First two days in Corfu Town and then drove to the northeast coast where we stayed in a private villa. Corfu Town is small and walkable. Lots of little alleys and shopping. The main “attraction” is the Old Fortress. Walk about 20 minute uphill to the top for a great 360 degree of the area.
Then we drove to St. Stephano on northeast coast. We stayed in a gorgeous private villa. Check out that view!!!!
We drove around to different beaches in the area. They are all unique. However almost all are rocky rather than sandy so be sure and bring water shoes. These gems were perfect:
Highlight of the trip was renting a boat and spending a day randomly dropping anchor and jumping in the water. We tied up to a restaurant for lunch. Such fun!!
TIP: If you are heading here it’s possible to take a ferry to the area and many places are accessible by water taxi and there are also normal taxis. No need to even rent a car.
Packing Notes: Dresses are so easy and definitely cooler than shorts or pants. I'm not sure I was ever cold but did bring a wrap. The water shoes above were key and also work as walking shoes. You want bug spray in the evenings and lots of sunscreen. Also a wide rimmed hat which they sell all over if you don't want to pack one.
